For most of the war each division had a Sanitary Section of the Royal Army Medical Corps attached, consisting of about 25 personnel who were responsible for clean water, cooking facilities and the latrines. This often meant being in the front line and inevitably there were casualties among their numbers. Frederick Bending died from wounds on 15th March, 1915 while serving with the 15th Sanitary Section attached to 28th Division. |
